    A Year in Review

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

What a year it has been for us at FoodPop. After spending most of the year coding, building and making numerous changes, we finally launched - albeit 'softly'. We have a lot to do and 2012 is going to be a great year for us and our users. We will be really focused on increasing the experience and making things easier to use, more visual and mobile.

With any business, the feedback we are getting really helps us to shape the future and allows us to build a better platform.

    Campbell's Green Bean Casserole

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

As Thanksgiving approaches and people start to contemplate what to serve and search out recipes, outside of the turkey, the most recognized dish in America seems to be Campbell's Green Bean Casserole. Up until a year ago, I must've been living under a rock because I had never heard of this dish nor tried it out but a food marketing company I own was asked to develop a modern day version of this dish for a green bean company. The task was, take the traditional dish and put a "healthier" twist on it.

We spent a few weeks creating six different concepts:

    Today in Food

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

I posted the latest craze in 'super sized' food today with Burger King launching their new pizza-sized burger. At over 8.7 inches and an undisclosed weight, it seems like governments are trying to push better, healthier eating but companies are pushing products which seem to be moving in a different direction. Just yesterday, Arby's revealed a new Reuben sandwich that contains over 2,100 grams of sodium - in one sandwich.

    New Photo Display

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

After a lot of good feedback, we realized that we needed to make the site more visual and have less text. After all, how could we have a platform focused on food and not showcase it better?

So today we launched a new view of how photos are displayed in your Feed. This will allow a more visual approach to the way content is displayed by users and how you can interact with the photos as well. Instead of having to click twice to view the photo, you only need to click on it once and it will pop up over your window.

    New Log in

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

After a lot of great feedback and looking at landing page of FoodPop - we just introduced a new version of the page people come to if you are not logged in. Since we have been working on the platform for over a year now, we became too close to the user experience and took for granted that anyone who came to FoodPop for the first time would inherently know what to do. Totally wrong.

    Making Changes

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

With more and more people joining, we are getting some great feedback and working through some of the bugs being identified - which is a great thing. In the past week, we have really been working on the taxonomy of the site - the relationship between the words being entered and how they relate to other categories inside of FoodPop. We also changed the comment area so that you can now actually see what someone commented on as opposed to just seeing that there was a comment.

    Getting ready to 'Pop'

    Posted by Steven Yevoli

For the past year I have been truly blessed to work with some incredibly talented and amazing people in building FoodPop. The whole idea behind FoodPop was founded on the concept that there are certain categories of personal interest which people will prefer to access directly rather than have them intertwined into every other social bit of information.

    Welcome to the FoodPop Blog!

    Posted by Jon Pugh

Welcome, everyone, to FoodPop. We've just rolled out a bunch of new improvements to the site, including a blog!

This was a pretty big roll out. The site is now much much easier and faster to navigate. As you click on items in your feed, they will appear on the right hand side. You can click again on anything in the right to get a bigger view, or you can just hit "next" to scroll through to the next item. This works on all feed, profile, and following pages.

Nice improvements, much easier to navigate now. The follow feature makes a ton of sense. Rather than 'friending' celebrity chefs, they should be considered brands that I can follow.
